Become a Volunteer

Are you interested in gaining expertise that can be applied to numerous professional fields such as social work, education, psychology, management, and communication? Do you want to learn more about yourself? Do you want to make an impact on others? If you are at least 20 years of age, apply to become a volunteer at Camphill Communities California. It is an experience that might change your life forever!

We review applications beginning in January until all positions are filled. Year-long commitments begin in the end of July until the beginning of August. If you are interested, please download our application form and email it filled out to coworker@camphillca.org.

Applicants must be at least 20 years old, have English language fluency, a willingness to support and live with others and an interest in community life. Because we support a vulnerable community, the State of California requires all applicants to undergo a background check and/or obtain a police report.

Volunteers live and participate in community life at Camphill California for a period of at least one year. They are responsible for a variety of support tasks – participation in our community workshops, organization of cultural activities, and supporting household activities including cooking and cleaning. A typical day consists of a community gathering in the morning, 3 common meals, morning workshops, afternoon cultural and social activities and responsibilities to the home throughout the day and in the evening.

Volunteer benefits consists of a private room, board and health insurance. Volunteers can request reimbursements for some of their expenses and receive a small life-needs stipend.
